Peepli Live is an Indian satirical comedy film that explores a wide field of farmer suicides and a response to subsequent political media. This movie is totally based on the suicide cases of farmers grim reality and how the media manipulates all those issues into their benefits to gain TRPs.

In this movie, they try to portray the message that how media uses the public for their own TRPs. Anusha Rizvi the director of the movie brilliantly constructed the whole scenario. Peepli Live mainly focuses on the agenda of the media.

In this movie, there are two persons who had a massive loan on their heads, and they were slackers and drunkards. Suddenly, from somewhere they come to know that if a farmer commits suicide then the government pays a huge compensation to their family. And they start discussing this and trying to make a decision, at the same time a local reporter overhears their conversation and reports it to his seniors.

Within a short span of time, it becomes national news and two rival media channels start fighting to cover the scene. And very soon all the political parties also get involved in it. The farmer starts fearing about his life and suddenly the government finds a dead body but after that, no compensation is credited to the family as it gets declared an accidental case. Worse, the bank also takes away their land.

This is a romantic movie highly inspired from a real-life based story of Dashrath Manjhi who was poor labourer in Gehlaur Village that is located in Bihar, India. Dashrath Manjhi was also known as the ‘Mountain Man’. Manjhi got released in the year 2015 and directed by Ketan Mehta.

In this movie, Nawazuddin plays the role of poor labourer and a caring husband ( Dashrath Manjhi ) and Radhika Apte playing a role of his wife ( Phaguniya Devi ). They both lives in this small village near Gaya in Bihar. One day Manjhi’s wife who is pregnant falls down from the mountain who she was trying to get through it. And he wants to take her to the nearest hospital but that too was away 70 kilometres.

Then unfortunately her wife Phaguniya dies giving birth to a girl. After that Manjhi decides to teach a lesson to the mountains.
